Since its opening in 1992, the theatre has built a reputation for world-class productions, from the Royal Shakespeare Company to the National Theatre. The venue is celebrated for its state-of-the-art facilities, excellent acoustics, and clear sightlines.
For those planning a visit, the booking system now includes an innovative “View from seat“ feature. This allows patrons to select a seat on the digital map and access an interactive 360-degree view, giving you a perfect preview of the stage perspective before purchasing.
Food & Drink: Pizza al Teatro and More
The investment in the visitor experience is most evident in the upgraded hospitality areas:
- Pizza al Teatro: Savour handmade sourdough pizzas at this in-theatre pizzeria, perfect for a relaxed pre-show meal just steps from your seat.
- The Ambassador Lounge: A fully refurbished space offering a premium experience with reserved tables and at-seat service.
- Priority Club Bar: A new, reservation-only bar on the ground floor for a relaxed pre-show drink.
- Piano & Bridge Bars: The Piano Bar (mezzanine) opens 90 minutes before shows, while the Bridge Bar (Royal Circle level) offers floor-to-ceiling views across Gloucester Square.
Getting There: Transport & Parking
Woking Theatre is highly accessible via multiple transport links:
- By Train: The theatre is just a 5-minute walk from Woking station, which serves London Waterloo (25-30 mins) and major cities like Portsmouth and Southampton.
- By Car: Easily reached via the M25 or A3. While there is no on-site parking, the Victoria Place (Red, Green, Blue, Yellow) car parks are closest to the Peacocks Centre entrance. Brewery Road Car Park is best for the Gloucester Square entrance.
- Sustainable Travel: Bike racks are available in Gloucester Square, and EV charging points are located in the Victoria Place Red Car Park.
Accessibility for All
The venue is a proud member of the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme, supporting guests with hidden disabilities.
- Mobility: Step-free access is available to the Box Office, bars, and the Royal Circle (Row H). Lift access serves the Stalls. Note that the Upper Circle is accessible by stairs only.
- Wheelchair Users: There are nine spaces in the Royal Circle and one in the Stalls.
- Sensory Support: The theatre provides audio-described, captioned, and BSL-interpreted performances. For the best view of BSL interpreters, seats in Stalls H-N or Royal Circle A-C are recommended.
- Assistance Dogs: Welcome in all areas of the theatre.
